A vehicle at a no-parking zone is not just what it looks like but is also a potential security threat according to Bengaluru mayor Gautham Kumar Jain who became the victim of traffic jams, despite being the first citizen of the city.

A picture of an abandoned BMW car was posted on the Bengaluru Police commissioner’s Twitter account yesterday, and the commissioner asked the concerned traffic police officer at Ulsoor Traffic Station to tow the vehicle.

With 10,84,381 vehicle owners booked in 2019 for parking and abandoning their vehicle at no-parking areas, the mayor feels that anti-social elements may use this opportunity and plant a bomb in such vehicles.

The mayor said he was stuck for a long time at Sampangiramanagar ward next to Corporation head office, during an inspection as 35 vehicles were parked at no parking zone. Frustrated by this menace and also due to it being a security threat. The mayor said he will write a letter to the police commissioner to take strict action against such owners and have these vehicles towed away.
