The Surya Kiran aerobatics team flew for the first time ever with the rotary-wing Advanced Light Helicopters to put on a stellar show during the Aero India airshow at Yelahanka Air Force base in Bengaluru.

The two aerobatics teams of the Indian Air Force enthralled the audience while performing high-velocity manoeuvres over the skies of Yelahanka.

During the display, the Surya Kirans made an endearing love sign.

Surya Kiran Commanding Officer Gp Capt Anoop Singh said, "We planned it very much in detail. This is the first time it has been undertaken. So, we had to really work it on the ground to ensure that the appeal is good. The basic speed of the two aircraft is very different and due to that we had to really design the manoeuvre well, we have to be really very close."

"It needed lots of planning and hard work on the ground and in a very graduated manner we moved it up in the air with initially one aircraft and then building up the full team," he said.

"We are doing this integrated display for the very first time and in-fact for the very first time in the world, you will find a helicopter performing along with a fixed-wing team. It took a lot of coordination, building up and executing them safely," Sarang’s Team Leader Wing Commander Girish Tomar said.
