Lockdown: An open opportunity for poachers to hunt and loot wildlife

Indian forests are not safe for wildlife as poachers are making the most during lockdown. Earlier, two poachers were seen entering Bannerghatta National Park in Bengaluru. Now, 11 poachers entered Kapatagudda forest in North Karnataka to hunt down fox, wild hare and wild bore. However, alert officials caught them and seized their hunting nets and bikes.

The operation was led by range forest officer SM Shivrathreshswamy. The team went to the forest area and caught the 11 poachers hiding in the bush.

They had hid their bikes as well. The officials caught them red hand and seized the hunting nets, knives, and bikes. The accused persons were booked under the Wildlife Act and were produced before the court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
