Pakistan arrests 26/11 mastermind Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi in terror-funding case

Pakistan has arrested wanted terrorist and Lashkar-e-Tayiba chief Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi. However, the terrorist has not been arrested in connection with the Mumbai terror attacks.


Pakistan has arrested wanted terrorist and Lashkar-e-Tayiba chief Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi. However, the terrorist has not been arrested in connection with the Mumbai terror attacks.

The counter-terrorism department of the Punjab province has booked Lakhvi for a milder charge of terror financing.

In a statement, the CTD said: "Lakhvi is accused of running a dispensary, using funds collected for terrorism financing. He and others also collected funds from this dispensary and used these funds for further terrorism financing. He also used these funds for personal expenses."

Lakhvi will be produced before the Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore.

Lakhvi was designated as a global terrorist by the United Nations under the Security Council Resolution in 2008 after the Mumbai attacks.

The LeT operations commander was released from a Pakistani jail in April 2015 after spending nearly six years in detention.
