Congress party has made sweeping changes to its party unit in Tamil Nadu, which is scheduled to go to polls around May this year. But the new Congress list has sparked off a controversy by the sheer size of office bearers that have been appointed.
Congress appoints vice presidents, general secretaries, treasurer, secretaries, executive committee, presidents of District Congress Committees, Pradesh Election Committee, Election Co-Ordination Committee & other committees of Tamil Nadu Pradesh Congress Committee.
The party has appointed 32 vice presidents, 57 general secretaries, 104 secretaries, 56 executive committee members, 32 ex-officio members and 200 committee members.
The appointments have drawn flak from within the party.
Congress MP Karti Chidambaram tweeted to say that "the jumbo committees serve no purpose".
"32 VP, 57 GS, 104 Secretaries. None will have any authority which means no accountability," he said.
