Coronavirus: India logs 36,401 new COVID-19 cases; recovery rate at 97.53%, highest since March

The active cases have fallen to 3,64,129 which constitutes 1.13% of the total cases. The number of active cases declined by 3,286.


India reported 36,401 new Covid-19 cases to push India's total caseload to 3,23,22,258, while 530 fatalities took the death toll to 4,33,049 in the last 24 hours, according to Health Ministry data.

The active cases have fallen to 3,64,129 which constitutes 1.13% of the total cases. The number of active cases declined by 3,286.

Meanwhile, 39,157 recoveries in the last 24 hours have taken the total recoveries to 3,15,25,080. The recovery rate stands at 97.53% which is the highest since March 2020.

According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, with average daily testing of more than 17 lakhs in August, India has tested 50 crore samples across the country. India has achieved the milestone of the last ten crore tests in only 55 days.

Around 56 lakh vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours, taking total doses administered to 56.6 crore under the national vaccination drive.
