India reports less that 1 lakh daily Covid-19 cases after 2 months; positivity rate at 4.62%

For the first time in over 2 months, India's tally of new Coronavirus cases on Tuesday dipped below the 1 lakh mark.

The country's death toll due to the pandemic went up to 351309 after 2123 lives were lost in a day. 


The national Covid-19 tally stands at 28,996,473. 

According to health ministry data, active cases have decreased by 97,907 in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate now stands at 4.62 per cent.

Data also suggest that Maharashtra (10,219 cases over the 24-hour period) continues to be the worst-affected state followed by Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

More than 33 lakh (33,64,476) vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
