Telangana political parties had already decided upon which candidate would be voted for President and conveyed the same to their respective members. TRS and TDP were supporting the NDA presidential candidate while the Congress, MIM and CPM supported the UPA candidature.

But the TRS Janagam MLA Mutthi Reddy committed a faux pas while voting for the President. He was supposed to vote for NDA candidate Ramnath Kovind but ended up voting for UPA candidate Meira Kumar. He realised his mistake and immediately took the issue to the notice of Harish Rao. But Harish proved to be quite serious about the misplaced vote and said that the CM had been informed and that the MLA would be called to give an explanation.

The TRS had already organised a mock polling to avoid such issues, but the mistake of Mutthi Reddy had become a talk among the political circles.
