Two Telangana MLAs didn’t utilise their vote at the Presidential poll. One was TRS MLA Manohar Reddy and the other was MIM Legislative Assembly leader Akbaruddin Owaisi. Both missed the election on the grounds of ill-health.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Reddy had directed every MLA to vote with conscience but gave permission to one MLA from abstaining from voting. Peddapalli MLA Manohar Reddy is hospitalised due to ill-health. CM KCR enquired about his health condition with the family and gave him permission to miss the election.
The MLA wished to cast his vote by travelling from the hospital by an ambulance, but the CM advised him not to take any risks regarding his health and asked him abstain from participating from the voting process.
In another such instance, MIM Legislative Assembly leader Akbaruddin Owaisi couldn’t attend the Presidential poll due to his ill-health. Currently, he is in London under medical treatment and informed his party of his inability to come for casting his vote. The MIM members were in a dilemma as to whom to vote for the President and finally settled on UPA candidate Meira Kumar.
