Generally these stunts are performed by the politicians. Ploughing lands, driving the bullock carts or cycling the rickshaws… these are all publicity stunts.
But higher officials do not do such stunts. They don’t need publicity. Their job is to see that the government schemes are properly enforced and that the people gained through them. However, in some instances some officials mingle with the people and try to find out their problems. This collector did the same.
Medak district collector Bharathi jumped into the paddy field. She is interested in farming and is especially fascinated by the women workers planting saplings. That’s why she never bothered about the muddy land and started to plant the saplings.
