Telangana government is set to increase the price of alcohol on all brands under the new Excise Policy that would come into effect from October.

The government took this decision after distilleries and breweries brought various issues to the notice of Telangana State Excise and Prohibition department.

The distilleries demanded the government that since they were unable to cope with the financial burden in view of the increased cost of manufacturing of IML (Indian made liquor), wine and IMFL (Indian made foreign liquor), they require at least 15% hike or they would stop their products.

The Telangana State Beverages Corporation Limited had sent proposals to the State government which would be finalised by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
