Ex Congress MP VHR to fight against new secretariat

Synopsis

The Telangana government has taken a decision to have a new secretariat in Hyderabad They also approached Union minister Arun Jaitley for permission to have new secretariat at the Bison Polo ground VHR plans to start a new agitation on 25 September for the protection of the old secretariat

The Telangana government has been planning for a new secretariat for some time and has now finalised on the Bison Polo ground in Defence Colony at Mehdipatnam. It also corresponded with Union defence minister Arun Jaitley, seeking permission of defence grounds.

However, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president captain N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the party would not allow to shift the Secretariat, Assembly and Council and would protect the Bison Polo ground and Gymkhana ground under any circumstances.

Senior Congress leader and former MP V Hanumantha Rao has also written a letter to Jaitley, saying that the old Secretariat had accommodated the entire offices of united Andhra Pradesh, and now that AP has shifted to Amaravati, there is ample place in the old secretariat.

VHR also wrote that the proposed new place has a huge flow of traffic and no sufficient parking space. If the new secretariat comes up there, then the traffic would affect the entire area. He also said that since Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao rarely comes to the secretariat, what’s the use of building a new one, other than wastage of money.

VHR said that he would conduct a public ballot in Hyderabad on 25 September on the construction of a new secretariat. His further action would depend on the public ballot.
