While previously it was known that the customer has filed a complaint at Bellandur police station, a new report adds that the issue has been resolved. The customer has been given a replacement of the device. The replacement was received from a local Bengaluru store.

It is known that the device was bought last month and the owner was visiting a local store (and not the authorised store) when the incident took place. It was after servicing the phone, when the shopkeeper started inserting the SIM, the incident took place. The actual cause is still unclear and we have reached out to Xiaomi for a response. While the issue has been resolved, we really hope such incidents don't take place and more measures are taken towards customer security.

PhoneRadar has managed to get their hands on a CCTC footage showing the Redmi Note 4 burst into flames.
