In Android N, 'N' is for Nougat, an Italian sweet

Synopsis

Keeping with it usual trend, Google has named the upcoming Android version after famous Italian sweet.

 

Indian expectations had risen when Google CEO Sundar Pichai had recently said that the Android N might be named after a desi delicacy.

 

"We’ll put up an online poll, and if all Indians vote, we can make it happen," Pichai had said during a recent visit to India.

 

The Indian names that were doing the rounds were Nanakhatai, Nutella, Naiyyappam, Nariyal Laddoo, Nariyal Barfi, Ney Payasam.

 

There was also a website -- www.androidneyyappam.com -- launched to drum up support for an Indian sweet as the OS name.

 

Come to think of it, the Nougat is an Italian sweet that is tough to prepare, but is worth the effort that goes into its preparation. Will the new Android N have generate a similar user experience?
