How a man ordered 166 expensive phones and robbed Amazon of 50 lakhs

Two people have now been arrested for duping Amazon India of Rs 52 lakh. They did so by ordering expensive phones and then alleging that they received an empty box.

Shivam Chopra (22) and Sachin Jain (38) are arrested for duping Amazon, according to a report in The Hindustan Times. Jain would provide SIM cards to Chopra for placing these orders. Chopra would order the devices and then sell them on other online portals and local markets.

Amazon noticed that 166 orders were paid via gift cards in mere two months, and all claimed of receiving empty boxes. They also noticed that all the purchases were made from a specific location. He would give multiple addresses of the same locality, and when the delivery executive would call him, he would usually meet the delivery boy at a nearby shop or landmark. 

He used the same name 'Shubham' each time. Three delivery boys have identified him, adds the report. Both have been arrested fater weeks of investigation. The police complaint was lodged at Shalimar Bagh police station in north-west Delhi.
