Google removes 'Partially Dangerous' rating for Google.com

Google has just taken off the precautionary notice on its Safe Search tool wherein "Google.com" was earlier rated as 'Partially Dangerous'. The rating was based on the potentially malicious links connecting to the search engine through user-uploaded content on third-party websites.

“Some pages on this website install malware on visitors’ computers,” the status page alerted. “Attackers on this site might try to trick you to download software or steal your information.”

A Fortune report has confirmed that Google's Safe Browsing tool is no longer identifying the search engine site as a security threat for its users, and the issue has been isolated to risky user-generated content.

The warning message on the browsing tool's page specially singled out Google Groups as the affected service which facilitates online discussion boards and forums.

Meanwhile, Tumblr.com and Github.com which support user-generated content are deemed to be unsafe even now. However, other search engines such as Twitter.com, Facebook.com, Bing.com, and Yahoo.com have been rated as 'safe' and free from malware.
