Discussion in the Assembly:
DMK Prakash: In the Natrampalayam village of Krishnagiri district, a person has been affected with the Zika Virus. This has created panic among the people. What action has the government taken to prevent the spread of this virus?
Deputy Speaker Jayaraman: Places such as Pollachi, Anaimalai and Kinathukadavu are located near Kerala. People are travelling from here to Kerala and from Kerala to here. According to data, the disease is spreading from Kerala. Precautionary steps should be taken.
Health Minister Vijayabaskar: The government is excelling in monitoring the spread and prevention of diseases such as Chikungunya, Dengue, Swine Flu and Zika Virus. We have found that a person from Krishnagiri has been affected by the Zika Virus. From this, you can understand that we are active in monitoring. Fever of any kind is examined in the primary health centre and government hospitals. When it comes to Zika Virus, the people need not fear as it is not a fatal disease. Even then, the government is keen on preventing the spread of this disease. 12 groups of health professionals are monitoring the condition in the Kerala border. We have enough medicines. We have instructed the collectors. Government is serving every need in this.
