In light of the fact that Malayalam superstar Kamal Haasan is hosting the Bigg Boss, fringe elements have demanded his arrest, along with the arrest of th eother contestants, citing that the reality show is against 7 crore Tamil sentiments. Although unheard of, the fringe group Hindu Makkal Kacthi has brewed up a storm in the Tamil film industry as they claim to have registered an FIR against the actor.
People have divided opinion about the demand. For instance, activist Ajay Goutham said that the demand is viable since the last episode of the show had people throwing urine at each other. "Is this the kind of entertainment we want these days? I am an activist, but I am not against anybody in particular. However, I am dead against the content of the show," he said.
In a letter sent by the Katchi group, it has been stated, "Bigg Boss has led to the erosion of social values. In fact, one of its episodes have mocked a Tamil song, which is being sung at all schools." The names of few of the actors have also been mentioned in the letter. To this, renowned Tamil lawyer, C Rajashekharan
said that the fringe elements could have complained about the content to the broadcasting regulatory authority, instead of demanding the arrest of dignitaries like Kamal Haasan. Lawyer, writer and activist Advaita Kaala agreed and said, "no one is anyone's shepherd. Everyone has the right to behave as they want and even shows should be left alone. Vandalising or raising protest unneccessarily does not solve anything. Moreover, fringe elements like the one concerned look for opportunities to promote themselves because no one knows about them."
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan seems to be unfazed by the allegations and the FIR. According to media reports, even the police is not serious about the case.
