Synopsis

MK Stalin has requested that the Tamil Nadu assembly proceedings should be telecast live Speaker Dhanapal has refused to give his approval

Opposition leader MK Stalin has requested that the Tamil Nadu assembly proceedings should be telecast live.

During the debate in the Assembly today, July 20, 2017, MK Stalin said, "The voters must watch the proceedings of the Assembly. Hence the Speaker should immediately approve live telecast."

Speaker Dhanapal was not too thrilled about it.

He said, "I am aware of the fact that I have the right to approve live telecast, but the case is still in the court."

Earlier, in Madras High Court, the ruling party argued that live telecast of assembly session is not feasible as the state has to invest about Rs 60 Cr for setting up high-end studio floors with cameras, audio system and also for hiring support engineering team.
