Actor Kamal Haasan gave a heartfelt statement on his Twitter account about the charges leveled against him by AIADMK ministers. Kamal had raised questions on how corrupt the current government is. Few ruling party ministers told Kamal to join politics and then try and raise questions. This is what Kamal said:
When people cried out against the corruption going on, did the political class not hear it?
Then why do they ask for evidence? Why do they ask for a witness? This attitude of them is precisely a trait of a corrupt.
Brothers, Honourable Minister Jayakumar and H Raja, have been insisting me to enter politics. Did they not know that I already entered politics right the day I voiced my opinions against the imposition of Hindi?
Persons who throw away their dignity for the lust for power, who proudly show off their command of language while advising others and the stooges who forego their duty for the bribe they accept are threatening me. At times they make me angry. At times they give reasons to burst out into laughter.
It seems that they want evidence! It was a command of the Minister! The people of this state are still fighting against corruption. If the ministers cannot hear it, they have people to remind them. Why do they need a priest in between the people and politicians?
I now request the people to register their personal experiences of facing corruption and threats in any social media sites. It has to be sent to the ministers concerned. Kindly draft your questions with utmost respect. I am sure to get a minimum of few lakh questions. I don’t know if people would be arrested or given answers. Let us wait and see. South India does not have enough prisons to accommodate these many people.
While people register complaints on various departments, I will register complaints representing my industry. In the name of ‘tax exemption,’ many bribe-dramas are taking place. Except few persons in the film industry, many are bowing down to this crime.
