  • Stalin says that women and children are involved in selling the banned substances

In a blatant show of obstinance, DMK leader MK Stalin brought and waved a packet of gutkha in the Assembly to prove that the banned substance is still available in the market.

Chief Minister E Palaniswami said, “How can you bring the illegal substance inside the Assembly? You should have taken it to the police for action.”

DMK has been asking a probe on gutkas being sold in the market and want a ban on it.

Speaker P Dhanapal said that bringing a banned substance inside the Assembly is a breach of privilege.

The gutka packets were then sent to the Privileges Committee.

Stalin said, “How can we make a complaint to the police when they themselves are thieves. In order to prove that the sale of substances like gutka is happening with the support of ministers and the police officials, I brought it to the Assembly. Recently, DMK carried out a research of where the gutka is being sold in Chennai. Women and children are selling this.”
