Twitter goes berserk as Juventus shut out Lionel Messi & co.

Highlights
  • Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League on Wednesday.
  • Juventus won 3-0 on aggregate to reach their seventh Champions League semi-final, which is also the highest by any Italian team.

Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli - built a mountain in front of their goal which Barcelona could not climb. The classic Italian defence was on show at the Camp Nou in the second leg of the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League when Barcelona took on an inspiring Juventus.

Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez did up the ante but it was matched toe-to-toe by the Juventus defence. Believe it or not, Barcelona scored 26 times before the quarter-final in the Champions League but they were shut out by the mighty Gianluigi Buffon.

Barcelona got a number of chances to turn the tables yet again like they did against Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 but they could not breach that defensive line. Messi probably could have scored his 9th Champions League hat-trick if he would have converted all those chances he got but that was his story on Wednesday.

What did you think of Lionel Messi’s performances against Juventus? There seems to always be an excuse for when he goes missing.
