Tennis suffered another setback on Sunday after reigning world number one, Australia's Ashleigh Barty, was knocked out in the opening round of the Tokyo Olympics women's singles. She was up against Spain's Sara Sorribes Tormo, as the former lost in straight sets (6-4, 6-3).
It was a shocking display of gameplay from the Australian, who seemed to be somewhat experimenting with her style, as she dropped her service game twice in each of the sets. On the other hand, Tormo made just five unforced errors in her entire match, as she exploited the chances created and gifted to her by Barty.

"It's an amazing feeling; I still can't believe it. It's something incredible for me. It's something that I've been dreaming of all my life, being here and even more so beating the world number one. I'm super, super happy," said Tormo, following her game.
Barty's loss means Australia will have to wait for its first-ever singles gold medallist. However, she is going good in the doubles, along with her partner Storm Sanders, beating Nao Hibino and Makoto Ninomiya of Japan in the opening round. However, she could again face Tormo, along with her partner Paula Badosa, in the quarters.
