Wild tiger spotted at Bannerghatta National Park

Synopsis

Bannerghatta National Park has plenty of tigers as such. But they are tame and used to the presence of humans. However reports of a wild tiger, which seems to have strayed into the park from the surrounding jungle, has triggered a mild panic as residents fear an attack.

The tiger has already been spotted by tourists and managers three times earlier in the park. However, only now have localities expressed fear over its appearance once again inside the park.

The apprehension in the surrounding area is said to come from concerns that the tiger might cross the park and attack livestock and people at any time. Wild animals in the park stay inside the park itself.

However, Forest Department officials have expressed happiness over this development as they feel the overall number of tigers in the park will increase thanks to frequent visits by this tiger.

Either way, they are keeping an eye on the tiger to avert any untoward incident.
