The Personal Assistants (PA) of Karnataka's people’s representatives are apparently spending most of their time chasing rats from inside the offices of the Vidhana Soudha.
The rats are playing such havoc that even ministers and other leaders are on their guard, wary of attacks by these tiny creatures.
Sources say that the rats have left their chewed imprints on bedsheets, carpets, shoes, clothes and even on the beds inside the Vidhana Soudha.
Interestingly, the rats are said to be on constant 'roaming' mode, even in the presence of humans. As a result, the PAs often bear the burnt during accusations of not keeping the offices clean.
The rats have even damaged the cables fixed to the CCTV cameras installed there at a cost of ₹4 crore.
According to Legislative Council member Basavaraja Horatti, who has been a member of the Legislators' House for 34 years, Every year lakhs of rupees are sanctioned for the maintenance of the buildings.
But the money is spent on other things, and the rats remain in the place, only increasing their numbers from time to time.
So all other crisis aside, one wonders when this one will be fixed in Karnataka.
