Over-helpful SI writes exam for friend, lands in jail

BTM Zone excise SI Srinivas, 30, was arrested by High Grounds police for appearing as a proxy in the KSRP Special Reserve Police Sub Inspector examination.

BC Pradeep wanted to be a sub inspector just like his friend Srinivas, who was already an SI. Putting friendship ahead of work ethics, Srinivas promised to help his friend pass the examination. He literally wrote the KSRP SI exam held at RC College on July 3 for Pradeep.

During the examination, the invigilator asked Srinivas to produce his ID card. But the accused claimed that he has forgotten to get his ID card. Not convinced by this, the officers informed the officials concerned in the exam centre.

Officers who rushed to the spot checked his identity through the biometric machine and found he was not a candidate. Later, they informed the High Grounds Police, who arrested him.

Currently, he has been handed over to the judicial custody.

BC Pradeep Kumar of Chitradurga and Srinivas of Kunigal were friends. Srinivas managed to pass the excise SI examination in 2011 and was working in the BTM zone.
