Finance Minister Thomas Isaac has stated that the state had asked RBI to dispense ₹2,400 crore for salaries and pensions of almost 10 lakh people in the state.
And while RBI will provide ₹1,000 in new notes to the state today, the remaining amount will be provided within the first week of December.
The Kerala government has openly expressed anguish over demonetisation and the subsequent cash crunch.
Many bank officials and members of a unit of All India Bank Employees’ Association of Kerala had written to RBI seeking more money to resolve the cash crunch. They had also expressed their fears over being exposed to public distress and anguish.
