Synopsis

Janahitha has been developed by Karnataka Municipal Development Council (KMDC).  Users will have to click and upload photos of various grievances that will automatically get forwarded to concerned authorities. 10 major corporations of Karnataka and all urban local bodies are mapped on Janahitha app.

To resolve various civic grievances Karnataka state government has launched a new mobile app, named Janahitha, developed by Karnataka Municipal Development Council (KMDC).

Now, people of the state can click photos of various grievances like garbage pile, defunct streetlight, damaged roads and post it on the app to bring it to the notice of the authority. The app also has various facilities for other civic issues like applying for building plan, birth or death certificate, etc. Janahitha promises to deliver the services within fixed time.

The app is available for all, and the uploaded photos are automatically forwarded to the concerned authority. 10 major corporations of Karnataka and all urban local bodies are mapped on Janahitha app. The authorities by using geo-location of the photos can locate the exact area the user has specified and act immediately.

A leading national daily quoted Eshwar B Khandre, the minister of state for municipal administration, as saying that Janahitha will change the operations of 264 urban civic bodies that also includes BBMP. Also, the grievances will be addressed ‘quickly and with conviction’.

Further, senior civic officials will be monitoring the complaints to ensure that there is no laxity by the concerned authority and complaints are resolved within specified time. If the services are not delivered on time, the matter will automatically get forwarded to the department head, and higher authorities and disciplinary action can be taken against the concerned official.

Residents on 10 municipal corporations, 114 town municipal councils, 57 municipal councils, and 89 town panchayats can send their complaints using this app.

The app will also receive software developed by eGovernments Foundation free of cost as agreed by former UIDAI chairman Nandan Nilekani for making it more useful and vibrant, the minister confirmed.
