With the United Democratic Front (UDF) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanding the resignation of Kerala Finance Minister after the state budget was leaked to media, the assistant private secretary to the minister was removed from his post. Minister Thomas Issac admitted that a miscalculation by one of the staff led to the leak.

"One of the staff might have sent the copies to the media ahead of the budget presentation. However, there was no deliberate attempt to sabotage the budget," the minister said.

Assistant private secretary K Manoj Kumar was removed from his post just hours after Kerala Assembly witnessed high drama with Opposition leader presenting an alternative budget at another venue.

The opposition also alleged that details of the budget started circulating on social media even before Minister read it in the House. They also filed a complaint with Governor P Sathasivam and even demanded a new budget.
