Karnataka CM gets a taste of Bengaluru jam

Synopsis

The mother of a friend of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah breathed her last on Thursday, June 7 and the CM wanted to pay his last respects. But his hopes for an unplanned visit were dashed when he encountered a massive traffic jam near JC Nagar Doordarshan Kendra.

Officers in the CMO had informed the city's traffic police about the CM’s travel, but planning a decongested route would have taken hours. However, the death meant the CM could not wait that long, so he decided to leave immediately for his friend Muniyappa’s home. But the idea did not prove to be a very fruitful one.

Though officers tried their best to clear the traffic jam, as it was Eid, the roads were packed with vehicles. The CM’s vehicle got stuck for more than 10 minutes in JC Nagar and a further 15 minutes near Mekhri Circle.

Eventually, a coincidence came to the CM's rescue. As his convoy was delayed in Mekhri Circle, the funeral procession happened to be passing through the same route. The CM alighted from his vehicle, paid his last respects by the roadside and consoled his friend.
