Kerala doctor among 16 who joined ISIS in Syria

At least 16 missing people from Kerala, including a doctor, are believed to have travelled to Syria to join the Islamic State (ISIS), reports claim.
The relatives of 16 people from Kerala’s northern Kasargode district now have approached the state government to seek help. Earlier this year, a Kerala journalist working in Qatar had gone on to join ISIS.
The families realised something was amiss after one of the relatives among the 16 got a message that all of them have reached their destination safely. Since then all their phones have been switched-off.
A doctor, his wife and their eight-month-old child are also among the missing. The relative on Friday met with chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan to seek the government's help to trace them.
“All youngsters are from Thrikkaripur and surrounding areas. Initially relatives thought that they would come back but they are mistaken. We will seek the help of state and Union governments to trace them and bring them back,” said Kasargode MP P Karunakaran told The Hindustan Times.
The Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists since 2014 have gained larges in Syria and Iraq and since then the Sunni group has been asking Muslims all over the world to come to Syria and Iraq to become part of its Caliphate.
