
The Assamese migrant labourer arrested in the Jisha rape and murder case has been shifted to Kakkanad district jail, where he will be kept in an isolated ward. CCTV cameras and other surveillance system are in place to check the movements of the accused.
Two assistant jail superintendents are in charge of Islam's security. The jail premises will also be under strict observation. An identification parade of the accused is expected soon after which police will take him to various places to collect evidence.
On Friday, amid high-security, Islam was taken to Perumbavoor Judicial First Class Magistrate Court with his face covered with a helmet from Aluva police club.
The big breakthrough in the brutal rape and murder came after 50 days when the police took custody of the 23-year-old from Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu.
The man, who is known to be an alcoholic and sexual pervert, allegedly raped and brutally assaulted Jisha, a Dalit law student, using a sharp-edged weapon on April 28 and left Perumbavoor soon after allegedly committing the murder.
