Though Jayalalithaa was a practising Tamil Brahmin, her mortal remains were buried and not cremated according to the Brahmin tradition.
The AIADMK party took the decision to conduct her final rites similar to her mentor MG Ramachandran, who was also buried.
The earth movers were brought, and the grave is ready. Currently, lakhs of people are taking part in the final procession which is moving towards the Marina Beach.
He body will be buried next to the MGR memorial on Kamarajar Salai.
