In a pre-dawn raid, the National Investigating Agency (NIA) and Hyderabad Police team busted an ISIS module. At the tip-off provided by central intelligence agencies, the security forces raided four places in the Old City area and took 11 people into custody. The police handed over them to the NIA for further investigation.
The police have also recovered some explosives during the raid.
The officials have confirmed that the arrested people belong to the ISIS militant group. Unconfirmed reports suggest that eight of them are from Hyderabad, and three other are outsiders.
"Investigation is going on. The motive of possessing the explosives is also yet to ascertain", a police source said. The source added that the 11 members had been taken to some unknown place for further interrogation.
Following intelligence inputs, the Hyderabad police had kept a watch on the movements of these people. The early morning raid was taken up after tracking the members for about two months.
When asked about the possible plan to strike on the eve of Ramzan, the sources said this was one of the leads under investigation.
