NIA busts ISIS module in Hyderabad, 11 suspects detained

Synopsis

 

The agency had conducted search operations at ten locations in Hyderabad based on a tip-off from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) about suspicious terror activities.

 

The search uncovered hidden weapons, explosives' and Rs 15 lakh in cash. So far 11 ISIS sympathisers have been detained and the explosives and weapons have been seized.

 

Columnist TS Sudhir says, “Hyderabad has been targeted by the ISIS to indoctrinate and recruit youth. Quite a few had been detained while going to join ISIS & counselled.”

 

The detained operatives, NIA officials say, had been in touch with handlers in Syria and were planning major attacks in the country.
