
Parties members belonging to different parties such as BJP, VHP, Hindu Jagaran Vedike in Coorg have collectively called for a bandh, today, demanding the handover of DySP MK Ganapathy's suicide case to the Central Bureau of Intelligence (CBI).
The protestors have been warned not to force local businesses to shut shop and to refrain from destroying public property.
Coorg superintendent of police (SP) Rajendra Prasad said that 1200 police constables have been deployed across the district. Also, 150 officers, 25 battalions of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), the District Armed Reserve (DAR), three patrols are on duty in Coorg.
The schools and colleges in the district will not be granted a holiday unless the situation gets serious.
The private bus owners association will also be observing the bandh. However, all KSRTC buses will be functional.
The second pre-university supplementary examinations are scheduled to be held today at three centres in Coorg. Pre-university board deputy director T Swamy said that the board has taken measures to conduct the exam without any hassle.
