Bengaluru roads turn into fishing bonanza

Synopsis

Katla, Jilabi and the banned African cat  - all species of fish that are difficult to find, were seen floating on the roads in Bengaluru today. While a few residents were upset over their homes being in a complete mess, others, who saw the fish in their backyard, decided to feast on them.

Raja Nanjamma, a resident of Arekere, which borders Kodichikkanahalli, felt happy to catch a few fish. "Usually, my husband or I go to the market to buy fish, but today live and fresh fish has come close to my doorstep by swimming. I am lucky to get a huge catfish," she said.

Expressing joy over his catch, Chinnathald Setty, said, "I wanted to buy fish in the evening as Saturday will be a bandh, but I was lucky enough to net three big fish using my lungi," he said.
