Bengaluru: 8.5-foot python causes panic in Sai Baba ashram

Synopsis

A 8.5-foot long rock python was spotted in the ashram of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Whitefield on Tuesday night, causing panic among devotees in the premises

One of the devotees at the ashram called and informed BBMP Wildlife after the rare snake was spotted. "We received a call from a devotee at around 9:30 pm after which the BBMP despatched its forest department team to the location. The snake was caught and handed over to the concerned officials within an hour," Nagabhushan, a BBMP Wildlife Warden said.

The snake was later released in the Bannerghatta National Park.

S Muniswamy, a Kadugudi Corporator, speculated that repair work on a storm water drain that runs through the forest area where the ashram is situated must have given the snake a avenue into the ashram.
