Karnataka is gearing up for its sixth bandh of the year on September 15.
Protests in Karnataka have intensified. Monday saw the city coming to a grinding halt after a mob burnt Tamil Nadu-registered trucks and buses on the roads and vandalised shops in the city. In the violence, one person was killed and another received injuries after police opened fire on protesters in Rajgopalnagar area on Monday evening.
Refusing to budge from its stance, the Kannada Chaluvali Party, led by Vatal Nagaraj, has called for a Railway Bandh on September 15. Their bandh call is being supported by several pro-Kannada organisations.
One lakh protesters are expected to take part in the stir.
The railway bandh will be held throughout the state in protest against injustice meted out to Karnataka in Cauvery and Mahadayi issue, an official from the Kannada Chaluvali Party said.
The bandh will be observed from 6 am to 6 pm. The Kannada Chaluvali Party leaders said that this decision was taken to bring the situation of Karnataka to the notice of the Centre.
