A girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her pre-school supervisor, 32-year old Manjunath.
Parents of the three-and-a-half-year-old girl have filed a complaint of sexual assault against the playschool in south-east Bengaluru.
The incident took place on Friday when the child complained of pain in her private parts on returning from school. The parents went back to school wherein she recognised the monster. After conducting a test in a nearby hospital, the parents filed a police complaint and police arrested Manjunath.
Marathahalli police has registered the case under POSCO Act and the supervisor has been arrested. The pre-school, which is a franchise of a prominent chain, tried to defend the accused and refused to file a complaint. It has about 150 children and 35 working and non-working staff.
The school authorities, instead of ensuring the guilty is punished so that other children won't have to go through the ordeal, allegedly pleaded for the case to be withdrawn. However, according to The New Indian Express report, the school spokesperson told the news site that they didn't ask the parents to withdraw the complaint; instead the school has also filed a complaint against Manjunath and immediately terminated him.
The school authorities also said that they will cooperate with the police, as per report. It has already provided the CCTV footage. The accused was working with the pre-school for the past eight years and authorities claim all background checks were done. Other parents have now joined the fight and looking to work with counsellors to find out if other children were also victims of such monstrous behaviour. The principal has also been detained for negligence.
