Bengaluru: The inaugural day of Aero India 2019 was flagged off by defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday. With spectacular formations and sorties by many aircraft, the audience were wowed by the performances.
Rafale grabbed the attention with their performance during the inauguration. The aero show also serves as a platform for alliances between defence sector and aviation companies.
Several aircraft paid tribute to wing commander Sahil Gandhi who lost his life on Tuesday during a rehearsal. Rafale aircraft flew at low speed as a mark of respect, and the Indian Air Force took to the skies in “missing man” formation with three aircraft; Su-30, Jaguar and Tejas
The Surya Kiran Aerobatics Team (SKAT) did not perform on Wednesday.
