Synopsis

Where will our children be safe from harm? At home? At school? Seems like the answer is nowhere Now a three-yr-old girl was assaulted, burnt by her attacker

A three and half year-old girl was allegedly assaulted and burnt with a hot stove near Kollam prompting the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights to suo motu register a case today.

Kollam Rural SP and district child protection officer have been asked to file report within 15 days on the incident.

According to police, the child's mother, who had estranged relations with her husband, was staying in her friend's house at Kundra.  When she was not at home, her friend's husband assaulted the child and allegedly burnt her with a hot stove on Monday.

Hearing the child's cries, neighbours rushed and took her to hospital, police said. The man has been arrested, police said. Last week, a seven-year-old girl in Kollam district was allegedly sexually assaulted and killed by her uncle.
