A college magazine from Kannur has been embroiled in a major controversy after allegations that one of its contents insults the national anthem and national flag.

Brennen College in Thalassery has found itself in the eye of the storm after a drawing published in the annual college magazine has been accused of ridiculing the recent Supreme Court order to play the national anthem before the screening of films at theatres and multiplexes across the country.

The image in question can be found on the 13th page of Brennen's annual magazine, 'Pellet'. The drawing shows two people having sex behind the chairs when the national flag is seen on the screen of a theatre. The magazine has other 'inappropriate' content too, according to reports. 

Brennen College is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. The annual magazine is brought out by the college union, which is currently headed by the SFI.

Following the controversy, the distribution of the magazine was suspended and attempts were made to retrieve the copies which are already with the students.
