SpiceJet flight skids off runway at Karipur airport

The flight skidded off the runway while landing at airport Six guiding lights on the runway was damaged  It is suspected that heavy rains and slushy runway led to the incident

A major tragedy was averted after a SpiceJet flight skidded off the runway while landing at Karipur airport on Friday morning. However, the pilot managed to control the plane.

The flight from Bengaluru glided towards the left side while landing. Even as the pilot was able to control the aircraft, six guiding lights on the landing strip were damaged. 

There were 60 passengers onboard, and none of them was injured. The pilot managed to bring the flight to the terminal safely. 

There was heavy rain while the flight was landing and a portion of the runway was filled with slush. It is suspected that this might be the reason for the skidding. 

Airport fire and rescue services and paramedics were rushed to the field to face any eventuality.
