Actresses and other female celebrities in India often find themselves at the receiving end of fans' naive and insensitive comments, which include body shaming. From the iconic Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Mollywood star Nazriya Nazim, several actresses have faced this social media evil and had to give strong replies to shut up the 'body critics'.
South Indian actress Saranya Mohan is the latest to have such an experience after her post-delivery photos went viral on social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. One of the photos, in which Saranya is seen with her mother, carried a comment saying "You've put on weight, darling" to which she replied "Post pregnancy, it is quite common, especially after a C-section."
A few months ago, another post-delivery photo of Saranya was also body shamed widely, after which the actress put up a comment on Facebook saying "So many hate comments about a woman becoming a mother, majority from the so-called literate Malayalee community. I am very proud of being a mother and happy that I have an understanding man as husband."
Saranya has acted in several Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films and is best known for her performances in Yaaradi Nee Mohini and Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu.
