RSS activist's murder: Police arrest 6 including main suspect

Kerala police have arrested six persons in connection with the murder of RSS activist Rajesh Edavakode in Thiruvananthapuram. The 32-year-old RSS Karyavahak was hacked to death at Sreekaryam on Saturday night at 9 pm. 

BJP is observing state-wide hartal on Sunday and alleged that the attack was carried out by CPM activists. However, CPM rubbished allegations and said that personal grudge was the reason behind the murder.

The attack seems to be a continuation of the series of violent clashes between CPM and BJP cadres on Thursday night in the capital city.

The 10-member-gang ambushed him while he was standing in front of his house. The attackers chopped off his left arm and he suffered over 40 injuries inflicted with sharp-edged weapons. Rajesh later succumbed to his injuries. 

Manikuttan, the main accused, had served jail under Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention)Act (KAAPA) and other accused are Ajith, Bijith, Pramod, Gireesh Aby. They were arrested from Pulippara in Kattakkada, Thiruvananthapuram. 

A series of violent incidents were reported from Thiruvananthapuram after workers of CPM and BJP vandalised party offices and damaged vehicles last week.
