Malayalam actress Priya Prakash Varrier, Oru Adaar Love director Omar Lulu and Manikya Malaraya Poovi songwriters have approached the Supreme Court against the police complaints filed against them recently.
Some fundamentalist groups in Hyderabad and Mumbai have filed FIRs against Priya and Oru Adaar Love's makers for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through Manikya Malaraya Poovi's lyrics.
In her petition, Priya claims the complaints filed against her deter the right to freedom of expression. Advocate Haris Beeran will represent Priya in the case in the apex court.
Speaking at a recent event, Priya said she is not scared and takes controversies and criticisms in a positive manner. The teenager added that she does not know more about the case filed in Hyderabad for hurting religious sentiments.
“I'm not afraid of people's intolerance. I won’t quit acting,” Priya said during her surprise visit to Kerala Lalithakala Academy's two-day cartoon camp at Thekkinkadu Maidan in Thrissur.
