The Idukki police have arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly stabbing a female social worker to death and cutting off her breast in what is suspected as a case of revenge crime.
The police nabbed the accused Girosh from his house in Thodupuzha on Wednesday, on charges of murdering Adimali native Selina, 38, and mutilating her body. The murder happened at Selina's house at Irumpupalam on Tuesday.
According to reports, the police said the murder was a revenge crime as there was a lot of bad blood between the two for years. Girosh was allegedly caught sexually abusing a minor orphan girl at his internet cafe in Adimali back in 2015.
Selina, who was the girl's counsellor, helped to settle the case without legal proceedings but on the agreement that Girosh would marry the girl. He was forced to do so but remained vengeful towards Selina.
Girosh then pretended to have buried the hatchet and befriended Selina. The two were in good terms and got involved in some financial dealings together, as a result of which Selina owned Girosh some money.
On Tuesday, Girosh went to Selina's house and demanded the money but she refused to return it. Infuriated, Girosh stabbed her to death with a knife, cut off her left breast and took it with him in a plastic bag.
Selina’s husband Siyad found her body when he returned home at night. The police examined CCTV footages from some shops near Selina's house and identified Girosh with Siyad's help.
