Plus Two student beaten to death, hartal in Alappuzha on Friday

Both the LDF and the UDF have called for a hartal in Alappuzha district on Friday This is the eighth murder reported from Alappuzha district in the last two months

Anandu Ashok, 17, died in the scuffle which happened on a field near a temple in Vayalar. It is understood that five of Anandu's classmates brought some goons along and attacked him, following an argument they had in school earlier that day.

Anandu was beaten up badly and died on the spot. The police have reportedly taken 10 persons, including a few RSS workers, into custody in connection with the case. Anandu's body has been sent to the Alappuzha Medical College for post-mortem.

Both the LDF and the UDF have called for a hartal in Alappuzha district on Friday as protest. However, Cherthala town has been exempted from the stir due to the Pooram festival.

This is the eighth murder reported from Alappuzha district in the last two months.
