Synopsis

Oommen Chandy is planning to approach Pinarayi Vijayan to get a copy of Solar Commission report The state government refused to hand over the report to him even after he requested a copy under RTI Act Minister A K Balan said the government will table the report before state Assembly within six months

Former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is planning to approach current Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan directly to gain a copy of Solar Commission report. The report had implicated Chandy in the multi-crore scam.

The state government refused to hand over the report to Chandy even after he requested a copy through the Right to Information Act. "They are denying the basic legal right to me. But I am sure that I will get the report," he said.

Meanwhile, the state government has made it clear that the report won't be handed over to anyone. The government wants to table it in the state Assembly before handing over a copy to anyone.

"There is no rule that a Commission report should be handed over to the accused. The state government will place the report before the Assembly within six months," Minister A K Balan said.

Oommen Chandy had said that the government did not consult legal secretary in the matter. The decision was taken after asking Advocate General. It is enough. According to Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1952, the report needs to be tabled in the Assembly within six months, he said.

Kerala Government has ordered a probe into the sexual allegations raised by prime accused Saritha S Nair in the solar scam case. However, it is unlikely that the officials would make any arrests soon.

The LDF government is cautious in its moves as the key accused in the case is former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and other top leaders.
